Meets UC/CSU Fine Art requirement.
This course provides an introduction to the basics of illustration. You will learn how to use digital tools to create artwork and apply the elements of art and the principles of design.
Most projects include step‑by‑step directions for using the free website Pixlr‑E, which can be used comfortably with either a mouse or a drawing tablet and stylus. A tablet is not required; however, some learners find that a stylus makes drawing easier, especially for later assignments.
If you prefer to work on your own iPad or tablet using apps like Procreate, or if you have access to Photoshop or another digital drawing program, you are welcome to use those instead of Pixlr‑E. All assignment files can still be uploaded into Brightspace regardless of the program you choose. For a few drawings later in the semester, using a tablet may be recommended, but if you do not have access to one, you may complete those projects by hand using traditional fine‑art media.
This course is part of a CTE pathway. View our CTE webpage for details.
