Using the power of words and imagery, students will write, direct and produce a one-minute film public service announcement. Students will use their “voice” to create a film story that not only entertains but persuades. Important issues will be examined and explored, then expressed through their writing and film-making. By the end of class, students will have created, produced and filmed a PSA to showcase during the final class as part of a national program empowering youth through film, but this means that in order for students to participate they will have to meet class deadlines. Students who don’t meet the deadlines can showcase their movie, but they will not have an opportunity to be part of the national program. So lend your light, pick up a camera and take ACTION!
This is an 8-week, 1 quarter class. High School learners will earn 2.5 credits.
