In this class, we will utilize yoga practices to become more physically, mentally, energetically, and emotionally fit. This class will present techniques in yoga. Yoga means union and refers to the union of the body, mind, and breath. It is a system of self-care that was developed in India and is practiced all over the world. Yoga develops core strength and helps to develop lung capacity through careful breathing. The emphasis in this class will be asana practice which refers to poses and postures designed to develop flexibility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. Emphasis will be placed on correct alignment and safe practice. Yoga learners will learn concepts of physical fitness, identify stress reduction techniques, gain an increased ability to concentrate, and develop a Personal Fitness Plan to support a lifetime of fitness.
See what our learners have to say about this course! Read below for learner reflections:
- “I truly enjoyed doing this class. This summer was a summer full of growth and many experiences, and yoga surely aided in that. Although I wasn’t able to spend it the way I wanted to, I am glad that I was able to focus on myself and better my mind and physical self. Yoga helped me feel better about some of the bad things that happened during summer. The most challenging part was to form self-discipline which was exceptionally hard during times I felt sad. I hope that even after, I’ll continue to keep the discipline and habit I formed, and keep the mindset I have.”
- “The most enjoyable part of this course has been finding a way to experience some peace and calmness by doing an activity. The most challenging was getting myself to get up and do the videos since some were tricky but it was worth it.”
