This course is designed to introduce learners to the structure of medical terms which includes prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, singular and plural forms, plus medical abbreviations and acronyms. Learners will be oriented to the basic concepts necessary to learn healthcare terminology which will be reinforced throughout the course.  Learners will also learn the function of each body system along with its pathologic terms, diagnostic techniques, common abbreviations and some pharmacological terms. The course allows learners the ability to achieve comprehension of medical vocabulary appropriate to medical procedures, human anatomy and physiology, and pathophysiology.
