This Child Development Capstone course provides learners with the opportunity to apply foundational child development knowledge and skills through real-world experiences with young children and within the field of education, early care, or relevant related pathways. Building on prior coursework, learners will apply knowledge of developmental domains, child development theories, historical perspectives, and current best practices while deepening their understanding of the needs of diverse learners and families.

Learners will actively engage in career-focused learning through volunteer work/internships or virtual training experiences connected to the Child Development pathway. Coursework may include lesson planning, research projects, portfolio development, resume design, career exploration, and professional certifications or training such as CPR/First Aid, Babysitting Certification, Advanced Child Care, and other education-themed professional learning opportunities.
