Description

Algebra 2 is designed and implemented to develop the students’ understanding that mathematics, when experienced through a variety of modalities, makes sense.  In Algebra 2 students will model real-world scenarios that require the use of prior knowledge, investigation, problem-solving skills, multiple representations of information, writing, and collaboration in order to develop the understanding that mathematics is not a series of isolated topics and associated symbols, but rather, a highly interconnected and relevant set of concepts and skills.

Through their experience and work in Algebra 2, students will discover the utility of symbols and the importance strict definitions play in establishing a succinct and precise language while furthering an ability to reason soundly.  Algebra 2 affords students the skills necessary to develop fluency in critical thinking and competency in using the tools of mathematics – computers, calculators, measurement devices, as well as models and proofs.

Prerequisite: Algebra 1A & 1B, Geometry A & B or Integrated Math 1AB & 2 AB
