Educator Spotlight: Adam Tunney
Adam Tunney has a rich and varied background. He earned his master’s degree in secondary education and a single-subject teaching credential in English. At age 24, he began teaching at his high school alma mater while also serving as director of the theatre department. During this time, he was the acting coach to Academy Award–winning actress Shirley Jones.
When his father became ill, Adam’s life changed. He left education to help manage the family business, six McDonald’s franchises. Eventually, the restaurants sold, and Adam was able to pursue his love of music. He has appeared on stages all over the United States and has been fortunate to perform with and for many of his heroes, including Mickey Rooney, Barbra Streisand, Shirley Jones, Keely Smith, Eddie Money, and Michael Feinstein.
In addition to performing, Adam is an instructor with iLEAD Online. He says, “Serving as a facilitator and academic coach for iLEAD has allowed me to share my love and enthusiasm for education with my learners no matter where I’m performing.”
