Message from the Director
Dear Parents,
We are ready for a fantastic 2018-2019 school year. Taking our successes from last year and building on them, we have prepared a fantastic offering for your child this year.
In May 2018, we received WASC accreditation. It is rare for a first-year school to receive accreditation. Thank you to our amazing staff, families, and learners last year for working to achieve this.
We welcomed several new administrators, academic coaches, facilitators, and staff members. We pride ourselves on having credentialed facilitators and a team that knows and believes in the vision of personalized online learning. The team is spending the next few days at our annual retreat, which will solidify our teamwork and commitment to our roles this year. They spent all of last week at our Camp Make, an intensive professional development and collaboration program. Click HERE to meet our team.
Our academic coaches are working to personalize your child’s schedule this week. They are reviewing transcripts and will work with you and your child to determine the best path to graduation and meeting your child’s college/career goals. We have a wide variety of new courses, both core and elective. Check out our Course Catalog, and consider balancing graduation and college goals with interests and passions when choosing courses this semester. We want your child to feel engaged and successful through our courses.
I want to highlight our science labs. We have two full-time, highly qualified science facilitators this year who are coordinating regular onsite lab times in the Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Orange County areas. This lab option is a fantastic way for your child to engage in social interaction, deep inquiry-based learning, and hands-on support.
We want to hear from you this year. Please reach out to your child’s academic coach and administrator, or a facilitator, with any requests, ideas, words of praise, or concerns you have. We know that learners have a higher chance of success when there is a strong bridge between home and school. We are eager to work with you to ensure we are supporting your child in the best way for him/her/them.
With a warm welcome,
Erin Jones
