Tip of the Week: Habit-Forming App
Gamified Task Manager is app that can help middle- and high-school learners form good habits or break bad habits. Assignments, chores, commitments, and goals can all be entered in the game-formatted app after the learner creates a “mini me” avatar.
The goals are separated into three categories:
- Habits: These are habits the learner wants to form (ex., get more sleep) or break (ex., stop texting during dinner);
- Dailies: Set daily goals such as drink more water, exercise for 30 minutes, and read for 60 minutes;
- To-Dos: This is where one-time projects/goals can be entered (ex., memorize the periodic table, sew a Halloween costume, etc.).
The user rates entries from easy to difficult. When goals are met, the learner is rewarded with points or items for their avatar. If goals are not met, points are lost. Personalized rewards can be entered (ex., go to a movie, study at Starbucks, etc.).
The basic app is free, but there are add-on options for a fee.
