Description
***This course is not available for the Track C July/August learning period.***
This course teaches history by encouraging students to walk in the shoes of a plantation owner, a slave, a freeman, a middle-class Northerner, and a very poor Southerner. How did the United States come to be a simmering pot of conflict which eventually erupted into the bloodiest American war? Students are encouraged to learn from the past so they can realize how they themselves are also a part of history today. This course focuses on the causes of war, the war itself and the aftermath, known as “Reconstruction”.
