Reach for the Sky: Student Gliding Adventure is the online course supporting the Soaring Aeronautics Program, a partnership between iLEAD and Skylark, is a project-based online course that takes students from the fundamentals of flight to hands-on soaring experiences. Learners explore the forces of flight, air resistance, glide ratios, and Bernoulli’s Principle through engaging activities like the Glide Slope Challenge, foam glider construction, and the White Wing Design Challenge. They study aeronautics history, flight safety, the three axes of flight, and instrument panels, while integrating cross-curricular projects such as the Around the World Passport. The program culminates with in-person glider flights at Skylark, where students apply their learning in the cockpit under the guidance of certified instructors
Credits: 2.5 for high school learners in grades 9-12
