Description

***This course is not available for the Track C July/August learning period.***

Semester A: Explore crime and justice through a real-world approach in which you take on the role of a prosecutor or defender in a criminal trial. Learners will explore the court system, the roles of everyone involved in the court, and the trial process. As a prosecutor or defender, you will have the opportunity to prepare your case for trial.

Semester B: The Innocence Project

This course will take on the work of the Innocence Project, which is an organization that works to overturn wrongful convictions. First, we are going to examine how a wrongful conviction occurs, and then we are going to take on a case in the role of an Innocence Project attorney, going through the same selection process that the Innocence Project uses when they select a case to take on. Our goal is to present a successful Writ of Innocence to the court, which will be our final project.
