Description

***This course is not available for the Track C July/August learning period.***

Recommended Grades: 4-7 (1 quarter long).

This is the second class in our Coding series, but you don’t have to take them all in order. This course jumps right into Scratch, which is a program created by MIT to teach young learners how to code. Computers are a part of our everyday lives, and we usually don’t think much about all the stuff that goes into making all the different apps, games and programs we use. The answer is CODING!  In this class, we’ll get to try out some of the basic tools coders use. You’ll start building your own knowledge of coding so that you can have fun building your very own Coding Creation. By the end of this course, learners will be able to understand how to use basic lines of code, apply what they learn about coding to compose a game, message, animation, or tool and feel encouraged to learn more about how coding is used in our community and in society.
