Description

The main purpose of Biology is to develop an understanding of life in the natural world. The overarching ideas of the course include: the origins of life, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, genetics, evolution, and ecology. Students will investigate how humans impact the biosphere and Earth’s natural cycles. They will use the knowledge gained in the course to analyze data, form an opinion, and defend their opinion based on scientific evidence.  This course will teach the students the proper use of the scientific process through inquiry laboratory activities and project-based assessments.  These laboratory activities will reinforce the concepts that are introduced throughout the course.  Content knowledge will be gained through readings, primary resources, secondary resources, lab activities, simulations, and a variety of multimedia and technology-based applications.

Pre-requisite: Algebra 1 suggested or concurrent
