Educator Spotlight: Bridget Valles
For Bridget Valles, teaching is more than a job; it’s a calling. She sees her learners as leaders and wants to equip them with the tools and skills they need to lead bravely, ethically, and creatively. After Bridget earned her BA in English from Cal Poly Pomona she went on to earn two master’s degrees (teaching and curriculum design) from Seattle University. During her 15 years as an educator, she has taught high school English, creative writing, hip-hop, and poetry. Bridget’s background also includes case management and advising. She specializes in serving learners who have not had their needs met by the traditional education model. She makes sure they get what they need — intervention, enrichment, or just more personal choice in the curriculum.
Bridget is passionate about unlocking the curiosity and bravery that is innate in every person. She believes reading and honoring another’s story is one of the best ways to cultivate the empathy necessary to construct a more just and humane world. Her life’s mission is to help build that world. We are honored to have Bridget on our team.
