Celebrate the Earth
April is Earth Month, with a particular focus on April 22, Earth Day. In 1970, approximately 200,000 Americans marked the first Earth Day. Now fifty-one years later, it is a global celebration with about one billion people observing the day!
This year’s theme is Restore the Earth. We hope you will take some time to consider how you can protect the environment. If you are already doing a stellar job, maybe you can mentor family and friends.
Below we have suggested some family-friendly Earth Month/Earth Day ideas for a variety of ages:
- Seven Suggestions for Activities from Home
- Earth Day Crafts for Kids
- Backyard Fun for the Family
- Movies About Climate Change
- Zero Waste Game *Always check with your local hauler to see what they can process. Recycling abilities differ from place to place (sometimes even within the same city). For example, in this Phoenix-based game, a paper egg carton can be recycled, which is not true in many places.
- Research and consider supporting or volunteering for an environmental nonprofits.
- Start your own environmental campaign.
