I am a middle school facilitator who truly loves what I do. I have always known I wanted to teach because I grew up with a fantastic role model of a teacher — she just so happens to be my mom! I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, and I am credentialed in both North Carolina and California. I am in my fifth year as a 6th grade facilitator at SCVi Charter School, my second year as a Project-Based Learning Coach for iLead, and I am very excited to begin my adventure facilitating for iLead Online! I believe in providing an interesting, challenging learning environment where learners flourish socially, emotionally, and academically. I love being a part of a thriving network of schools that are dedicated to providing our learners with the skills they will need to thrive in the ever-evolving workforce of the 21st Century. I believe learners hone their skills as leaders by applying the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and discover their learning style as well as apply the knowledge garnered from meaningful projects. Learning in this manner prepares them to collaboratively work with their peers in the future and take the risks that innovators must in order to create new solutions, products or understandings. As my favorite author, J.K. Rowling, said, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared. … We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.”
