Things to Do: Egypt Lecture

This week at the Vincent Price Art Museum, learn about ancient Egypt from Egyptologist Dr. Kara Cooney. Funerary behaviors will be the topic of this lecture. Learn how the elites of ancient Egypt commissioned coffins and tombs. The lecture will complement the current exhibit, Passing through the Underworld: Egypt Art from the LA County Museum of Art. The museum closes at 7 p.m., so consider going early to visit the exhibit before heading to the lecture.

You may be familiar with Dr. Cooney’s work. She was the co-curator of Tutankhamen and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at LACMA. Cooney also produced the television series, “Out of Egypt”, which aired in 2009 on the Discovery Channel and is now available online at Amazon Prime Video.

Where: Vincent Price Art Museum, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA

When: Thursday, October 18, 6-7 p.m.
