This year-long course introduces students to the foundations and applications of the U.S. criminal justice system. Semester A builds a core understanding of justice, criminal law, policing theory, collaboration, investigations, interviews/interrogations, and the trial process through a mock investigation and mock trial. Semester B extends this foundation with a focused study of the juvenile justice system, the corrections system, and criminal justice reform, culminating in a research-driven final project. Both semesters provide a comprehensive overview of justice, policing, courts, corrections, reentry, and reform.
