In this course, we will watch and study various poets who have mastered the art of spoken word. We’ll get a taste of the history of slam poetry and how it follows in the oral traditions of previous poetry movements. From there we’ll explore and put into practice various literary techniques while composing our own slam poetry. Eventually, like all great slam poets, you’ll get the option to perform your own poem.
