Engineering is a profession that contributes to change and improvements in our world and both Engineering and technology play a vital role in our daily lives. This course is ideal for learners interested in pursuing a degree in Engineering. We will explore the various fields of engineering and learn how versatile the field actually is. The knowledge and skills students acquire in this Introduction to Engineering course are amazing. This course engages students in interdisciplinary activities that will allow them to come together in discussions as they identify an issue and then research, design, and test a solution. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower learners to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance.
Prerequisites:
- At a minimum, elementary algebra or an equally rigorous foundational quantitative reasoning course (e.g., Mathematics I) is a required prerequisite or co-requisite, and students will employ quantitative reasoning and methods wherever appropriate
- It is suggested that students have taken Chemistry and Physics but not required at this introductory level.
