In this course, we will explore how young children learn, develop and grow. We will build foundational knowledge of child development domains and principles, developmentally appropriate practices, educational genres, and the role of an early childhood practitioner. Class participants will express their learning throughout this course via multiple avenues of communication including the opportunity to use multimedia tools.
Literacy and Language
This course is an exploration of how young children learn language and literacy skills. Through project-based learning, participants will gain knowledge in developing literacy curriculum, education based grant writing, and using a variety of props and materials such as flannel boards, stories acting, read-alouds, puppets, finger plays and community-based activities to support growth in language and literacy for diverse learners.
