Ancient Civilization C: Greeks & Romans

In this class, you will learn about all the incredible things the ancient Greek and Roman cultures created and did! First, we will explore the geography of both places to better understand where it is located today and how the landscape affected the growth of civilizations. Next, we will explore what a City-State is and then we will dive into Greek culture such as mythology, philosophy and constellations. By the end of this class, you will be able to discuss the great accomplishments of ancient Greece to your friends and family. We will also follow the city of Rome from a small village on the banks of the Tiber River to the dominant power in the Mediterranean basin and we will observe how these changes affected Roman life. By the end of our work together you will have an outline of Roman history, a deeper appreciation of what ancient Roman culture has contributed to us today and how the rise of Christianity in Rome spread throughout the world. This is a class where we are go back in time on a fantastic adventure to understand just who the people of ancient Greece and Rome were. So grab your computer, keep an open mind and lets go!

This course will provide an introduction to the Greeks and Romans introducing you to what each civilization is remembered for and examining its major influences on us today.
