iLEAD Online Team Spotlight: Meet Psychology and Sociology Facilitator Laureen Agee

iLEAD Online Team Spotlight Laureen Agee

This week, we are pleased to put the spotlight on Psychology and Sociology Facilitator Laureen Agee, aka Ms. A G. After a career of full-time teaching, she’s now a part-time facilitator at iLEAD Online who loves personalizing instruction for each of our learners. Let’s get to know Ms. A G!

Please tell us about your background and how you came to be at iLEAD Online.

After I retired from full-time teaching, my daughter, Allison Bravo, connected me to iLEAD Online, and I fell in love with our values of teaching learners with flexibility, which benefits everyone.

What is your role at iLEAD Online? What’s the best part about it?

I’m a facilitator for psychology and sociology and love presenting learning that directly applies to each individual learner and their experience in their life. I also tutor in math and social science and love working with individual learners and helping them learn.

What do you LOVE about iLEAD Online? What sets it apart from other schools?

I love that we all work toward supporting learners in their individual learning styles while offering quality education. I love that we can design individual learning to fit a learner’s strengths and interests.

In your opinion, what makes a great leader?

A great leader listens and connects to everyone in the group and empowers everyone to find their strengths.

There are great social-emotional learning activities/opportunities at iLEAD Online. Can you share a story about seeing learners using them in action (or yourself)?

I love that often a learner who has struggled with a lesson offers to help another learner in that lesson. We can connect well, even though we’re online.

What does a day in your school life look like?

My days are great due to flexibility. I go to the gym in the early mornings, then work a bit, then spend some time outdoors gardening, tending hens, hiking, then work a bit. (Part-time has its advantages.)

Please name three interestng facts about you.

I lived in Mammoth most of my life and raised my family there so still enjoy mountains, skiing, and hiking. Of course, I’m an expert at shoveling snow. Now I live in central coast CA and enjoy tending my hens and garden.

I’m an avid reader and during COVID began cooking a whole-food plant-based plan, which I still maintain (mostly).

One of my big surprises was going to graduation last year. I met learners who I had worked with for two years and saw that some were over six feet tall. From only seeing each of them on a screen, I had no idea some were so tall.

Join us in celebrating Ms. A G!
