A learner who participated in iLEAD Online’s mindfulness course, taught by Natalie Teichmann, recently shared some exciting updates about her creative journey. Miya De Vera, a talented artist and iLEAD learner, has beautifully illustrated a book that is scheduled to be published soon.
Miya expressed her gratitude for the art classes offered by iLEAD Online, particularly highlighting the significant impact of her art facilitators, Ms. Jones and Ms. Trumbull, who have been inspiring her since middle school. Their guidance and support have fueled her passion for art, leading her to pursue illustration as a career. Miya expressed that she feels incredibly fortunate to have had such dedicated and encouraging teachers throughout her artistic journey.
Miya’s illustrations will soon appear in Chloe Jamir’s published book “The Land I Once Knew,” a memoir that recounts Jamir’s joys and hardships of growing up as a missionary kid on the tropical islands of Indonesia. Miya’s exceptional artistic skills enhance the visual appeal of the book, which is filled with captivating stories encompassing humorous, heartbreaking, and heartwarming lessons. Designed as a read-aloud for upper-elementary-aged children, the book aims to expand vocabulary and foster critical thinking. Keep an eye out for “The Land I Once Knew” on Amazon, where it will soon be available for purchase.
A special thanks goes out to educational facilitator Natalie Teichmann for sharing this inspiring story of Miya’s achievements and artistic journey.
