Description

***This course is not available for the Track C July/August learning period.***

The goal of AP English Language and Composition is to cultivate reading and writing skills for college success and civic engagement through project-based learning. During the course, learners will read diverse texts to become more critical, curious and responsive readers. Learners will also become more reflective writers: analyzing, synthesizing and responding to texts written for diverse purposes and audiences. Learners will study diction, syntax, and rhetorical devices to identify and implement how an author can manipulate language to create an argument that is not only connected to the subject, but to the world. In this course, learners practice how to synthesize multiple sources and write evidence-based arguments around a central thesis. Through close reading, evaluation, argument and composition, learners will develop critical literacy and grow as informed citizens.11th-12th grade.
