Upper School Courses

Yoga A (1 semester)

In this class, we will utilize yoga practices to become more physically, mentally, energetically, and emotionally fit. This class will present techniques in yoga. Yoga means union, and refers to the union of the body, mind, and breath. It is a system of self care that was developed in India and is practiced all over the world. Yoga develops core strength and helps to develop lung capacity through careful breathing. The emphasis in this class will be asana practice which refers to poses and postures designed to develop flexibility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. Emphasis will be placed on correct alignment and safe practice. Yoga students will learn concepts of physical fitness, identify stress reduction techniques, gain an increased ability to concentrate, and develop a Personal Fitness Plan to support a lifetime of fitness.

Physical Education (1 semester)

You will explore different types of exercise and work towards creating a physical fitness and nutritional daily routine. Get ready to challenge yourself and have some fun!

Yoga B (1 Semester)

In this online yoga course we will use videos and articles to learn about yoga practices and their benefits. We will practice physical yoga poses, using our bodies as a way to get in touch with our inner experiences. Yoga is truly a journey of self-discovery as you learn more about yourself during each practice if you really listen to your body and heart. Try to have an open mind and know that yoga is not a one size fits all. Instead of making it a chore, you can make it work for you if you have a growth mindset. There is no judgment in yoga as we dive deeper into ourselves and share this journey of learning.
